Suicide of Denver Broncos Wide Receiver

In the wake of the recent suicide of Kenny McKinley, I wanted to post this article. His death speaks to the importance as to why EVERYONE needs to know the warning signs. Everyone always says that there were no warning signs after someone completes suicide until they learn what they are. That unfortunately is when they realize there were all kinds of signs previous to the person's death. I read in another article that he had been injured recently and had made statements about killing himself while playing dominoes with his friends. None of them took it seriously. Another one said they saw him the week earlier when he was removing things from his locker. There are 3 right there. 1. making statements about suicide. 2. Cleaning out his locker. 3. His traumatic event of being injured as a professional athlete. But all of those seem like normal things to anyone who doesn't realize what they really are. He may have had undiagnosed depression as well, but we'll have to wait to see if they find that out or not. 90% of suicides are a result of a mental illness like depression and the majority undiagnosed. We sometimes think that because this 23 year old young talented man had it all because he was an amazing athlete, was famous, and had money. We forget that he is a human being and probably has a lot more pressure than most of us have in our lives. Please keep his family in your prayers.
