Time for Action
Well I was finally able to get a hold of our new social worker and after our conversation I was kind of left with "We can't do anything about your paperwork because the NVC won't talk to us". Yesterday I called the NVC again and still no sign of our paperwork. The lady I talked to said she would have someone go to the receiving dept to try to locate our paperwork. I also called the State Dept and they were very nice but still couldn't find anything. They couldn't look up to see if it was already sent to Seoul because they need a case number from the NVC which we don't have of course. I emailed our social worker twice to let her know that I still couldn't find our paperwork and never got a response. The immigration officer said on Tuesday that she would get back to me in 24hrs and I emailed her twice yesterday and she never responded either. I really didn't know what else to do and because I believe that everything happens for a reason I was reluctant to do anything more, so I prayed for guidance and for a door to be opened to show me which direction to go. When I came downstairs a thought popped in my head to call our congressman. So I found the number and when I called I got the nicest girl on the other end of the line. She was very helpful and took my info and said she would email me a form to sign to give her permission to call the NVC on our behalf. I emailed her and went more into depth about how we lost our first referral and all the troubles we have had with our paperwork. When I got home last night I found she had emailed me back and said that she would do whatever she could to help us AND that as an internationally adopted child herself, she understood our desperation to get things straightened our in a timely manner. That was my sign from God that I made the right decision by calling. What are the chances that the girl who picked up the phone would be adopted. I started crying when I read that. She said that she could probably hear something in the next week. I just hope that our paperwork isn't really lost. We had to use Lifelink's other copy of Ashley's legal documents when we had to resubmit them to USCIS. If we had to resubmit everything again I think we would have to request another copy from Korea and that would probably take a month. So please say a prayer tonight for us that this gets resolved and quickly. Thank you everyone.

Oh my goodness! Definitely a sign from God :) We are all thinking about you and hoping your paperwork made it already and you just didn't get notice....
Kara, I am SO GLAD you took this extra step to advocate for yourself. I think you have been patient enough and clearly there is something wrong here. You are not acting selfishly, you are trying to get this girl home! I hope you hear something back soon. Keep us updated!
Also, how cool that you found an ally on the other end of the phone!
Oh my word, you must be going crazy! Definitely the right move in calling the congressman's office! I have to say I don't understand why your agency "can't" do anything! But I am sure you will hear something this week and I pray it will be fantastic news!
I'm so glad you made that phone call...and found someone willing & able to help you. I certainly will say a prayer for you, your little Bee, and your paperwork. You more than deserve some good news...and some speedy service!
Wow, what a sign. You will be in my thoughts until you hear anything more. I was given the same run-around and come to find out everything was right where it should have been - it was just hard to get that information. My prayer is that the same is true for you. :)
Bravo on taking things to the next level! You guys deserve to be heard and taken care of!!! I am *so* hoping that some things get resolved for you!!!
Definitely hoping that you get good news this week! So glad you called and can at least have some peace that it is all being looked into.
What a great sign! I'm glad you went ahead and called your congressman. I think I already told you, but when we went that route, our paperwork was processed within 3 days. Hopefully it goes as quickly for you-you definitely deserve it!
